A calmer way to manage app notifications
Notifications work better when each one has to earn the right to interrupt you.
Instead of deciding app by app, begin with three levels: interruptions that need immediate attention, updates that can wait for a summary, and information you only need when you open the app.
Use three levels of urgency
- Immediate: direct messages from important people and time-sensitive alerts.
- Scheduled: news, work updates, and delivery progress.
- On demand: promotions, recommendations, and social activity.
